Time for Gratitude

“You simply will not be the same person two months from now after consciously giving thanks each day for the abundance that exists in your life. And you will have set in motion an ancient spiritual law: the more you have and are grateful for, the more will be given you.” –  Sarah Breathnach

What are you grateful for this holiday season? From Thanksgiving to the New Year, consider taking time to start and cultivate a gratitude habit. It can change your life. You can be thankful for what you’ve overcome, gained, and what you’ve learned. It is important as we go into the New Year to experience gratitude with passion.

So, how exactly can you express your gratitude? First, you will need a pen or pencil, a notebook or journal and a little dedication. Here are the instructions:

  1. Start a daily gratitude journal. Purchase a beautiful journal; one that compels you to write in it. Then begin by writing down 5 things each day for which you are grateful. You can do this in the morning upon waking or before bed. You can even journal twice a day.
  2. When you start your gratitude journal, it may feel silly or even a little demanding but stick with it. Some days will be easy, other’s more challenging. Once you get the hang of it, you may find it hard to stop at five and you don’t have to. The more you do this you will begin to be grateful for an abundance of things throughout your life whether it is big or small. You may find that the universe is holding back until you really have learned to appreciate what you already have.
  3. Being grateful for simple and everyday things is grounding and offers contentment as well as assisting you in being more present in your life. If you continue to journal, it will transform your life and your perceptions.
