How would you describe yourself? Are you generally a carefree positive person? Or do you typically live in a world of worry and regret? Would ‘easy going’ or ‘controlling’ describe the way you travel through your life?
How we react to our most difficult life circumstances can be used as a gauge and a magnifying glass of sorts to gain insight into the energy with which we interact with the world.
There are two types of energy: anabolic and catabolic. Anabolic energy is life affirming, productive energy; and catabolic energy is destructive, depleting energy. Look at how you feel and move through your life circumstances. You can begin to see how feeling depressed, anxious, angry and frustrated would fall into the more destructive, catabolic energy field. Likewise when you feel grateful, peaceful, confident and joyful you walk around with a lightness of being that comes with the generation of productive anabolic energy.
There are actually 7 levels of energy that we each live in every day. How much time you spend in each depends on your emotional health. We each have a primary and secondary level that represents how we most often navigate our daily lives. These levels are most apparent when we are challenged, during difficult times. A person’s ‘true colors’ shine through not when all is well but rather when they are being tried and feel the struggle of the situation.
While there are many complexities within each level, for our purpose I will describe the basics of all seven levels. Each energy level includes your thoughts, feelings and actions. In a nutshell the energy levels can be described as follows:

Level 1 & 2 are catabolic. Level 3 is a transitional level being partially catabolic and partially anabolic. Levels 4 – 7 are anabolic. The more you work on releasing the lower level 1 & 2 energy from your life, the more you will live in a healthy positive emotional state regardless of what is occurring in your life.
