Karen McMahon

Karen’s passion is to help men and women navigate the emotional difficulties of relationships, breakups and divorce. Your work together will open up the possibility that your current relationship challenges can lead to a rewarding voyage of self-discovery and an immensely more pleasing life experience.

Karen founded Journey Beyond Divorce in 2010, after discovering that the pain of dissolving her marriage had been the very stimulus for her personal transformation.

During her three and a half year tumultuous divorce, Karen’s life began to improve exponentially. With much hard work, she embraced her new life, created healthy friendships and found her true voice. Karen learned to set suitable boundaries and let go of what she could not control. This was all new and welcome behavior.

Learning to live a healthy enlivened life is something that we can share with our children creating thriving relationships with them while helping them grow emotionally strong and healthy.

Karen is the mother of two teenagers and a graduate of the world’s leading coaching institute, Institute for Professional Excellence in Coaching (iPEC) and a Certified Member of the International Coaching Federation (ICF).

Divorce & Relationship Coach

Lisa BrickLisa Brick is committed to providing a pathway for learning and turning the pain and turmoil of the divorce process into an opportunity for personal growth and liberation. Lisa has invited, supported, and cajoled numerous individuals into being who they want to be; powerful, effective, creative, centered, generally upbeat, and self expressed human beings. In doing so, Lisa effectively challenges individuals’ logical assumption that circumstances are the limiting factor in life, knowing that this assumption undermines personal motivation and creativity.

In addition to four decades of experience in supporting individuals’ well-being as an acupuncturist, whole foods advocate, dedicated family person, and since 2010, certified iPEC coach, Ms. Brick has personal experience with life changing in unwanted, dramatic, and challenging ways, knows the devastation of facing what appears to be a nightmare future, and finding and staying in the eye of the storm until it loses its power and the sailing is smooth once again.

Lisa brings new ways of thinking and being to light. Lisa’s most evident collective accomplishments include Unity Charter School in Morristown New Jersey, the Acupuncture Center of New Jersey, and a loving and healthy marriage and family of 30 plus years. Ms. Brick sees all of her accomplishments as “collective” endeavors that include everyone, dead and alive, real and fictional, who have shared their ideas, talents, strategies, and energies.

Divorce & Relationship Coach

Carrie Doubts supports people who are dealing with difficult relationships, breakups, and divorces to go through the painful, yet necessary steps for rebuilding their lives after their loss. Her passion is helping men and women move beyond the drama and trauma of the ending of a significant relationship and into creating new lives and new dreams for themselves and their families.

One of the most challenging struggles separating and divorcing couples face is finding a way to move from the emotional reactivity that can be so unintentionally destructive and into consciously choosing how to end the partnership in a way that supports everyone involved. Carrie can help with that. Through your coaching adventure, she will take you on a journey of discovery on how to be a “me” after being a “we” for so many years.

Carrie’s journey to do this work began when her marriage of 13 years ended in divorce. Like many of you, she found it difficult to “get over it” and “just move on.” Carrie was in excruciating pain and felt like a complete failure. She also knew that she needed to learn from this experience so that she could avoid repeating the same mistakes in the future. Carrie felt compelled to create something meaningful and beautiful out of this pain, so she immersed myself in self-development and personal growth.

Carrie went back to school and earned a Master of Arts in Spiritual Psychology with an Emphasis in Consciousness, Health, and Healing from the University of Santa Monica. After studying to be a Psychologist (and deciding that this was not the career for her)  she earned her professional coaching certification from the Institute for Professional Excellence in Coaching (iPEC). She is also a Certified Grief Counselor by the American Academy of Grief Counseling. Carrie holds the Professional Certified Coach (PCC) credential with International Coach Federation (ICF).

Carrie is dedicated to empowering, guiding, and supporting men and women in making choices throughout the process of completing their relationships that honor their values, their families, and the loving that was once a pivotal part of their lives.

Today, Carrie is the proud mother of a twenty-something daughter and lives in Fairfield, Ohio with her second husband and two beloved Dobermans. Carrie believes in the value of service and volunteer for the Hospice of Cincinnati doing bereavement outreach and support for the families of patients in hospice care.

Divorce & Relationship Coach

Sheila works with men and women who are struggling with the dissolution of their marriages to create new pathways of thinking that emphasize the growing relationship they have with themselves. Her clients might be feeling paralyzed by the fear of an impending divorce, or dispirited by the implications of a recent one. Through the practice of awareness, acceptance and action, they are in turn better prepared to manage the strains of the divorce process and able to move forward with confidence.

After a 30 year relationship, she found herself going through an unexpected, soul draining divorce that tested her emotionally, financially and spiritually. She sought help from outside resources and dug deep. She googled everything “divorce”, found yoga, hired a therapist, joined a support group and finally sought the guidance of a Life Coach. The anger, pain, fear, sadness and sense of loss was at times debilitating. She didn’t want to be where she was, and didn’t know how to get out of there.

Her Life Coach helped her to accept what is, and most importantly taught her strategies to cope with the difficult emotions she was experiencing. She was so impressed with this process, that she signed up with the prestigious Institute for Professional Excellence in Coaching (IPEC) and became a Certified Professional Coach! After a lifetime of employment in the business realm, she had found a career that could make use of her intuition and innate positivity to help guide others through difficult transitions.

Along with being a Relationship and Divorce Coach, she is a world traveler, mother of two and student of the world. She is here to listen. Together, the two of you will find hope, achieve goals, and create a better way. She knows it can be done. She’s done it!

Divorce & Relationship Coach

karenB headshotWhile navigating the very painful break-up of her 25-year marriage, Karen embarked on a career in coaching. While juggling the demands of a messy divorce and struggling to maintain her focus on coach training, it became crystal clear to Karen that her time spent with her incredible peer coaches (a requirement of her training) became the absolute lifeline to finding the clarity, support and objectivity she needed. Expert coaching allowed her to maintain integrity despite the negative energy of her divorce. Through the coaching process, Karen found ways to tap into her inner strength, allowing her to be there for her children in a way that was truly meaningful to them. Rebuilding your life after a divorce is an ongoing journey. Coaching can help you embrace change, deflect negative energy and find peace despite the uncertainty and turmoil of your current situation.

Equine Assisted Coaching

Karen has had a lifelong love affair with horses and has been a horse owner for close to 20 years. Her once dysfunctional relationship with her first horse, a fiery Peruvian named Asombro (aka Beau), inadvertently brought her into the field of Equine Assisted Coaching/Therapy. Karen’s daily interactions with him led her on a path of self-discovery. His bold, challenging spirit revealed to her who she was, and more importantly who she wasn’t.

Beau’s guidance helped Karen understand the areas in her life that needed attention, and in working on her relationship with him she became more authentically herself. He taught her the importance of staying in the present moment, how to stand in her power, how to be an effective leader, and how to relax and let go. Beau also taught her how to look at life through another’s perspective, and how to receive honest criticism. Life with Beau challenged Karen to be her most confident and assertive self almost daily until his life ended at age 21 in 2010.

Now Karen offers Equine Assisted Coaching to those interested in experiencing this powerful tool within in her coaching practice.  Witnessing others as they rediscover their inner selves during their interactions with these graceful, powerful, and always honest creatures has been one of Karen’s most rewarding and fulfilling journeys.

Karen’s coaching style involves supporting you in creating and implementing a clear vision for your post-relationship life, designing achievable goals and assisting you in becoming the driver of your own destiny beyond your break-up. There is life after divorce, and Karen believes the end of a relationship does not have to be a defining moment in your life. Her heartfelt desire is to assist you in creating that space where you can tap into your inner knowing as you travel down this frequently bumpy road, helping you experience this time in your life as one of tremendous personal growth.

Divorce & Relationship Coach

Mary Burns Hoff

As a Certified Life Coach, Mary Burns Hoff’s passion is life planning, communication and relationship particularly for individuals experiencing the painful challenges of divorce. Mary is a second wife, step-mother of adult children, and familiar with living into the daily challenges of blended families.

Early in her career at a program designer, Mary produced a large, expensive event to her client’s specifications that failed to meet marketing goals only articulated at the end of the project. As a result, she developed a keen interest and ability to help clients focus and discern challenges before jumping to solutions. This experience benefits clients as they seek life direction, work to enhance relationships, and strengthen communication skills in both their personal and professional lives. Her 30 years of experience is dually focused in marketing and business development for not-for-profits and corporations.

Her own relationship break-up 20 years ago brought heartache and a hard fought redirection toward a new way of thinking about relationships and life. She found conventional therapy adequate, yet what resonated more deeply was discovering the power that she experienced once she understood that she could choose a life of possibility, success, and joy as she planned and lived her life. Her personal process of discovery gifted her with a new passion: to help clients move their lives meaningfully forward with clarity and exciting opportunity.

Mary, a graduate of Bard College, is certified with the Institute for Professional Excellence in Coaching (iPEC) and a member of the International Coach Federation (ICF). She is a business owner, program designer and facilitator, who loves cooking, gardening and music.
